THIS is a major crowd pleaser.
The pit itself is not so much a contest as it is an opportunity
for riders to wear-out their tires in a display of smoke and noise. If you
haven't seen it before, you definitely have to check it out!
Riders put their front wheel in a chock to keep the bike
from moving. A little bleach or a little beer is poured on the asphalt beneath
the rear wheel, and the rider lights 'em up. You'll see more than one tire
pop here.
But wait, there's more!
This year we may also do a true burn out contest.
This is where you can win a trophy.
The contest is for best "burn out donut." The idea
is for the rider to do a burn out, in a circle, leaving a circular patch of rubber
on the ground. Judging is done on the size of the circle, the symmetry of
the circle, and the "closing" of the circle (the ending line matches with the starting
line). In other words, the more like a true circle, the better.
You can have as many attempts as you wish, but each attempt
is an additional entry.
