Register for the Cook Off
For this year's Rodeo By The River we're adding a
$1000 Chili Cook Off! We'll be doing it Friday, March 14, 2008 right at SARA Park where the
rest of the Rodeo rally is taking place.
Chili Cook Off contestant teams will create their best batch
of Chili, either Red or
Green for the judges and spectators to taste. We'll
have prizes in a number of categories, including People's Choice, so make sure you're
there to burn yer lips with the rest of us.
Better yet, dust off that secret family recipe you have hiding
under the toaster oven and come out and compete in the Chili Cook Off! The
rules
are posted here on the site, and you can even
download
a registration form to fill in and send in.
Categories for competition, and Chili Awards are: Best
Chili Verde -- Trophy and $250,
Best Red Chili -- Trophy and $250, and People's Choice
Best Chili -- Trophy and $500. Prizes and awards for 2nd through 5th place
as well.
There will also be prizes awarded for best booth
We're limiting Chili Cook Off team spaces, so register early.
This is NOT a sanctioned event, but the rules are pretty close to one.
If you're not anxious to cook in the Chili Cook Off, why not
become one of the hundreds who will help judge? An endless bowl of chili (for
as long as the chili lasts) is included in the weekend and Friday Day Pass registrations,
or you can purchase an endless bowl of chili for just $5.00. That comes with
a voting ticket you can use to cast your vote, and we'll even let you stuff the
ballot boxes by purchasing extra voting tickets for one buck each.
